“I am not a pretentious artist, and I like to work with the things I have, not with specific things. I think it is part of being an ephemeral street artist – you can’t be pretentious”.

Il suo vero nome è Franco Fasoli, ma nel suo ambiente si fa chiamare Jaz. E’ un artista urbano che ha iniziato la sua carriera come writer, è stato tra i primi a lavorare in strada a Buenos Aires nel 1990.

Il lavoro di Jaz si contraddistingue per le particolari tecniche utilizzate, ed anche i materiali fuori dal comune come vernice asfaltica e benzina, grazie al quale è riuscito a creare opere enormi dai particolarissimi effetti cromatici.

I temi dei suoi lavori sono i più disparati, la sua arte è tutta concentrata sulla ricerca e la scoperta di diversi aspetti della natura umana o su temi sociali e politici. Le sue opere sembrano spesso rappresentare delle metamorfosi in atto, i soggetti hanno sempre silhouette particolari, che fondono uomo e animale e non hanno mai un volto.

Ha partecipato a molte mostre internazionali in giro per il mondo ed anche a molti festival come l’Open Walls di Baltimora, il Living Walls Atlant, il Painted Desert Project in Arizona o il Vatelon Residency in Uruguay.

“Work in the public space is about starting a dialogue with the people, it is about how every society reacts to your work, so for me work in the street is not the same as work in the studio. I try not to give people a specific way to read my work, I don’t want to give them a specific message. I like the ephemeral aspect of work in the street and how the street or the society interacts with that work”.
